The First Potato Planting of 2024

The penultimate Sunday of March 2024 with the weather ahead and not to cold overnight. Should I chance put my first Potatoes of 2024 in? The answer, yes and I unpacked my Casablancas, first earlies. I needn't of worried about nor chitting them as they had cgitted very nicely in the box. Seaweed infused compost from Aldi and yes I did see that compost review.

Nicely pre chitted

Getting the bags out of the garage and using so of last year’s compost and potato feed to cover the bottom of the bags. Then one 40 litre bag between every two bags to make the planting base.

Ready for the tubers

Four tubers per bag and then another one bag of compost per two bags to cover over the tubers. Water them with stored rain water and sit back and wait for them to push above the surface of the compost. Earth them up until I get to the top of the bags and keep well watered. Lovely

There is rain forecast for tonight and for most of the week ahead. I am very hopeful that they will be off to a flying start.
