Beers Of The Beano - Saturday 08 June 2024

You need your health for a quality Beano. Last week it was the recovery weekend from the food induced sickness but this weekend I’m back in the game. It’s a shame because last weekend was high Summer but this weekend is cooler and confused.  Not only was the 50A on time but it arrived at Newport Bus Station earlier than normal.

First stop, as per normal was The John Wallace Linton, rather quieter than normal.

Armed with my CAMRA Beer Voucher it was straight to the bar.

The review

Blonde - Saltaire Brewery - 4.0% ABV. B+ and a bit and a touch. Light, refreshing with a pleasing citrus fruitiness #ale #beer #bier

3.4/5. A brew much better suited to last weekend’s Summer Sun. Grey and cool today but at least I’m back out Beanoing.

Onwards for Fine Chips.

Shockingly, not raining. Across the Usk and on to Weird Dad’s Brewery and Taproom.

Still, not raining and with Cask Ales.

The review

Hearty Bitter - Yorkshire Heart - 3.7% ABV. B+ and a bit, big and malty with a hint of earthiness. A lingering gentle bitter and earthy finish #ale #beer #bier

3.3/5. Thank you Weird Dad and Dave H for being the number one source of diverse Fine Ales in #Newport 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Then onto the cans, for the variety and diversity.

A can of Astral Voyage from Turning Point Brew Co

It was a slow drinking day

Drinking from Mold, North Wales

I need to work on my leaving time. It’s only 10 minutes back to the bus station and I left 30 minutes before my bus left. I’ll know for next time, I hope?
