Beers Of The Beano - Sunday 18 February 2024
Sometimes in a Wetherspoons, Sunday is a day when the new Casks come on after as hard drinking Saturday night. Sometimes but not today. So it’s onto the Cans in The Posset Cup.
The review
So to start, Bloody Nora from Hop Union from Bristol. 4.7% ABV and a little more attenuated than the last time that I had it. Probably, been sitting in the fridge for too long? However, pleasant enough.

Chequered Past from Powder Keg Devon. 4.7% ABV. Vegan and Gluten Free. Fruity with a gentle malt base with a fruity gently bitter finish.
Then on to the Port Bar for brewed on premises Fine Ales.

Supercharge - Portishead Brewing - 4.9% ABV. B+ and a bit. Brewed on site IPA, fruity, malty, hint of sweetness with a lingering bitter finish #ale #beer #bier
3.3/5. Sunday morning in The Port Bar #Portishead The Sun is out and it’s all very pleasant. Happy, Fast WiFi too.
Then the beer, well actually the glass that made my special media stats shoot up.

Master Caution - Portishead Brewing - 5.6% ABV. B+ and a bit. A lot going on here, earthy, fruity, fruity, hint of sweetness with a gentle fruity bitter finish #ale #beer #bier
3.3/5. Think they need a better glass cleaner. However, it’s a very different and interesting brew. Still sunny #mb02
Then down along the marina to the Siren’s Calling, where I arrived two minutes early.

This Side Of Paradise - Bristol Beer Factory - 4.8% ABV. Gently smoked, roasty, malty and gently bitter. Bitter roasty finish #ale #beer #bier
3.5/5. Back in The Siren’s Calling, just opened and filling up fast. Quality local Fine Ales and Spring just around the corner #mb02

Halo - Track - 5.0% ABV. B++, with lager yeast but brewed at ale temperatures. Fruity, sweet, with a gentle fruity bitter finish #ale #beer #bier
