Beers Of The Beano - Friday 28 June 2024

Well, I was going to be lazy in the garden today but the thought of an early bus and a Costa Latte and Bacon Roll changed my mind.

Maybe not the fastest WiFi in the world but free WiFi. Match that up with a VPN and you are in business. Mostly listening to The Daily Tech News Show. Next stop The John Wallace Linton where there were huge queues at the bar, even at 08:00. Good news, a unique.

The review

Dark Arts - Peerless - 4.3% ABV. B+ and a bit, malty, creamy, vanilla, chocolate and coffee. Really rather good. Gentle bitter finish #ale #beer #bier

3.3/5. A new unique and I like the change. Cool and breezy out. Very Friday. Happy strange politics.

The Lamb, now open from 10:00. Great welcome, fast WiFi and Grey Trees coming soon.

Back on the Denim Demon from Misfit Brew Co, Hat’s off to the Kveik Yeast.

The Lamb is getting better on the craft front starting with a can of Mead. I know Honey, so there is going to be some sweetness.

A can and a poured glass ov Honey and Sour Cherry Sparkling Mead from Hive Mind

The review

Honey and Sour Cherry Sparkling Mead - Hive Mind - 3.4% ABV. B+, slightly sweet with touch of sour Cherries. Very different and Welsh too #ale #beer #bier

3/5. Who knew, Mead in Newport and on Untappd too. Strange finish which I think must be down to the Mead?

Then up the country to Mold

A can and poured glass of Cherry Sour from Polly's Brew Co

Sours are good for Summer

The review

Cherry Sour - Polly’s Brew Co - 4.5% ABV. B++, big on Cherries, sour, tart and refreshing. Bitter Cherry finish #ale #beer #bier

3.5/5. Another winner from Mold’s finest 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿. Great Summer Ale even Summer seems to be over in lovely Newport, South Wales.

Ex Tiny Rebel Newport site

I popped in the new Newport Game Bar because maybe it will be like Tilt in Birmingham. It wasn’t. At 13:50 it was empty, all of the handpumps were out of use and the only beer of note was Neck Oil from Beavertown. I went in and went straight back out. I crossed the bridge for an afternoon on Weird Dads.

Always worth a visit.

A pulled pint of HurriKane from Yorkshire Heart next to it's Pump Clip

Well Euros Football but has he had his day?

The review

HurriKane - Yorkshire Heart - 3.9% ABV. B+ and a bit, earthy, malty, pretty hoppy with an earthy bitter finish #ale #beer #bier

3.3/5. Timing, Football and Beer. Apart from Tech, that most of life summed up. Weird Dad’s in Newport 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

A can and a poured glass of Wayfinder from Cold Shelter Brew

Another one brewed in Caerphilly

The review

Wayfinder - Cold Shelter Brew Co - 5.0% ABV. B++, hoppy, citrus and effervescent. Pleasing citrus, bitter finish #ale #beer #bier

3.5/5. Has oats, so has a pleasing mouth feel. A touch of pepper too. From Caerphilly 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿. Welsh Friday.

And that was my day, as I headed back to the Market Bus Station.
