Beers Of The Beano - Sunday 26 May 2024

Post over night rain. Full English from next-door to the Premier Inn and no mobile blog editing. However, I now have UpNote integration with PopClip on the Mac, so there’s that.

Premier Inn - All You Can Eat Full English

That was at 07:00 and the local Spoons, The Posset Cup opened at 08:00. Beanoing involves early starts.

Wetherspoons - The Posset Cup, Portishead.

Needed more, new Cask Ales

A Pint of Butcombe Gold and it's Pump Clip

Forgot to use my CAMRA voucher

The review

Gold - Butcombe - 4.4% ABV. B+, maybe slightly on the long side. Malty sweetness with a gentle bitter finish #ale #beer #bier

3/5. Nicely presented in a mostly clean glass. Relaxing in the Posset Cup in Portishead #mb06. Quality Beanoing.

A Pint of Brewdog's Punk IPA in a T Pint Glass

These glasses actually exist

Sunday morning Mac Tech Podcasts and the odd Fine Ale. This is what Beanoing is all about.

The review

Punk IPA - BrewDog - 5.2% ABV. B++ and a touch. It’s still got it and in one of those glasses I didn’t think existed. Prost #ale #beer #bier

3.6/5. I could probably stay all day in The Posset Cup but they would need and better beers. However, this Punk works #mb06

The notice board and the entrance to The Siren's Calling Portishead

The Sun before….

Early in and I managed to hop on the 5GHz WiFi

An excellent Cask selection

The review

Ginger - Marble Beers - 4.6% ABV. B+ and a bit, ginger on the nose, ginger citrus in the body with a lingering ginger bitter finish #ale #beer #bier

3.3/5. All of this and it’s on cask too. Had a taster and decided to go for the Pint and I’m glad I did too #mb06

A Pint of Pavo from Squark in front of it's Pump Clip

Going more murky

The review

Pavo - Squark Brewing - 3.8% ABV. B+ and a bit, fruity with a hint of bubblegum with a gentle fruity, bitter finish #ale #beer #bier

3.3/5. The rain is stopping but the pub is getting even fuller. Luckily I have a direct line to the bar. Fair weather drinkers.

The launch of a new brewery

A Pint of Hissing Prawn Destroyer from Silent Brew and it's Pump Clip

Getting murkier

The review

Hissing Prawn Destroyer - Silent Brew Co - 4.0% ABV. B+ and a bit, juicy, citrus, tropical with a hint of earthiness and a earthy, bitter finish #ale #beer #bier

3.3/5. Moved on to Keg and this is rather good. You can’t beat a bit of hazy murk on a Sunday Afternoon #Portishead #mb06

A Pint of You Can't Take It With You from Silent Brew Co and it's Pump Clip

At £7.30

The review

You Can’t Take It With You - Silent Brew - 5.5% ABV. B++, hazy murk. Fruity, juicy, hoppy, hint of earthiness with a lingering fruity bitter finish #ale #beer #bier

3.5/5. There’s a band and this is £7.30 a Pint. Britain in 2024. However, I going it may well be worth it #Portishead #mb06

And that was it as I made my way slowly back to my Premier Inn. Another Quality Beano.
